# A customer portal inside your Shopify store

A customer portal that runs as a page inside your Shopify storefront: help articles on your own domain, and returns customers start themselves.

## A native page in your Shopify store

Customers get help without leaving your storefront. The portal uses your domain, navigation, fonts, and colors, so it feels like part of your store.

- Your own domain: Customers stay on the address they bought from. Nobody is handed a URL with our name in it.
- Your own navigation: The header, the menu, and the cart your theme already renders stay right where they were. Help is one more link in it.
- Your fonts and colors: Inherited from your Shopify theme — or set by hand, down to the logo, the corner radius, and every block on the page.
- Or a subdomain instead: Prefer help.yourbrand.com? Point it at the portal with one DNS record and the certificate comes with it.

## Help pages search engines and AI can read

Every article is its own page on your store's domain, in the HTML before any script runs. Google indexes it, and an assistant answering a question about your product can quote it. An answer locked inside a widget is invisible to both.

## Support every market from one help center

Write each article once. It’s automatically translated into the languages you support, shown in each customer’s storefront language, and used as the approved source for your AI agent’s answers.

> "Commslayer won us over for several reasons: incredibly fast support, frequent releases with meaningful new features, and a product that truly looks and feels AI-native. MCP connection is a killer feature."

## Answers before a ticket starts

Customers search categories and articles from the portal. If they still need help, they can contact your support team from the same page.

## Orders and returns in the same portal

Native returns, order tracking, and order management are coming soon.

- Built-in returns: Add self-service returns without adding another app. Commslayer checks each request against your policy, creates the shipping label, and keeps approvals, updates, and refunds inside your helpdesk.
- Customers manage the order themselves: Tracking, eligible order changes, cancellations, and issue reporting will move into the native portal without opening a ticket.

## Frequently asked questions

How the portal works with Shopify, Markets, returns, and order management.

Questions and answers:
Q: What can customers do in the portal today?
A: Today customers can browse and search your help articles, see the version for their storefront language, and contact your support team without leaving the page. Native returns, order tracking, and order management inside the portal are coming soon.

Q: Does the portal live inside my Shopify store?
A: Yes. It loads as a native page of your storefront, with your existing header, navigation, domain, fonts, and colors. You can customize the branding or keep help on a separate subdomain such as help.yourbrand.com.

Q: How does the portal handle Shopify Markets and translations?
A: It uses the storefront language each customer is shopping in for every locale you enable. Turn on automatic translation to create and update those language versions from one source article, then edit any translation by hand when you need local control.

Q: Can search engines and AI assistants find the articles?
A: Yes. Each article is a page on your store’s domain, and its content is present in the HTML instead of being locked inside a widget. Search engines can index it, and assistants can read and cite it.

Q: Does the AI agent use the same help articles?
A: Yes. The portal and AI agent use the same approved article content, so customers get consistent answers whether they search on their own or ask for help.

Q: Are self-service returns available in the portal?
A: Not yet. Native portal returns are coming soon. When released, customers will start and follow returns in the portal while your team handles approvals and refunds in Commslayer.

Q: Can customers track or change an order from the portal?
A: Not yet. Order editing is available today in Commslayer chat, on the Shopify checkout thank-you page, and on Shopify customer-account pages. Tracking, eligible changes, cancellation, and issue reporting in the native portal are coming soon.
