I'm looking for a nakkikone for a fast growing, profitable SaaS startup. You need to be high output, AI native and want to build your own thing in a couple of years. Great fit for an ultra-efficient tuta or kauppis student who'd otherwise end up on the consulting track. I can try to save you.
At the end of the day I want someone who seems to have more hours in their day than everyone else, and who is simply capable of excellence at whatever they do. Whether that shows up as 5/5 grades, competitive gaming or something else entirely doesn't matter.
I'm a serial founder. I sold my first SaaS business to a Singaporean roll-up before I turned 30, and we've since bootstrapped to millions in ARR twice. I'll teach you how to build a SaaS product people love, the theory behind it, and how to distribute it to a global audience. You won't easily learn this elsewhere.
You need to like sitting on your laptop a lot. Most of the work gets done with AI tools, and this isn't a meetings business where you get to spend your time with people (other than our lovely customers). Everything happens in writing.
About us
- Commslayer is a helpdesk for Shopify brands and now serves 3000+ Shopify stores. Our AI agent answers their customers' emails, chats and messages, and the store's team handles the rest from one inbox. Most brands come to us from Gorgias and end up paying a fraction of what they used to.
- We're serial founders. Before this we built Lifetimely, an analytics app for Shopify stores, which was acquired in 2022. Now we're doing the same thing again for the same audience. The company is bootstrapped, profitable and growing fast, with a team of 11. Our second product launches soon.
About the role
- You'll work directly with me, one of the cofounders, and take over more of my work as you learn it.
- My office is in Westend, Espoo. My cofounder is in Boston, and the rest of the team is spread around the world. You'll spend days at the Westend office with me at the start, and after that you can work from wherever you like.
- I'd like you to start as soon as possible. Part time is fine, with hours that fit around your studies, and it can grow into full time.
- Pay starts at 3-4k€ a month for full time, depending on how far along you are in your studies and whether you have relevant experience. It goes up as you take on more responsibility.
What you'll do
- Start in customer support and learn the product inside out. We run our own support on Commslayer, so you'll be using it every day.
- Take over work from me across the whole business: customers, finance, marketing and operations. Some of it is exciting, and some of it is receipts.
- Run your own projects from idea to done, like studying competitor products and building our comparison pages, and set up the processes that keep the company running.
- Grow into product work as the junior PM once you know the product: writing specs, working with the developers and shipping features.
- Think of it as a two-year apprenticeship, the kind you'd otherwise get at a consultancy, except you see the whole company and take real responsibility from year one. After that, off you go to build your own thing (unless you're the CEO by then).
Who you are
- A startup-minded Aalto student, or someone with an industrial engineering (tuta) background from Tampere University, still studying or recently graduated
- Ideally you've already been a trainee somewhere, but I don't really care as long as you know your way around AI tools and are willing to grind. This will be the most flexible job you'll ever have, but you might also find yourself on an 11pm call debugging something for a brand in LA
- Public stuff on the internet is an extremely bullish sign. A TikTok, a YouTube channel, a website, anything
- You speak excellent Finnish. This is a hard requirement
- You write great English. Also a hard requirement, since everything happens in writing
- You're good with numbers. You can build a spreadsheet from scratch and notice when a figure looks off
- You already use AI tools for real work every day
- You want to understand how the product works under the hood. This is a technical business. I don't write code either, but I'm pretty damn technical, and you'll need to be too
- You don't mind the boring tasks that come with the interesting ones
- You keep owning what you take over without anyone having to remind you
- You can put up with the weird jazz records I like to play in the office
Bonus points
- You already run agents or Claude Code in the terminal. We can teach you, but it's a big plus
- You've run something yourself, like a side business, a Shopify store or a student organisation
- You have taste. You notice when a page, a UI or an email looks off and can say why. Design background very welcome
- You can write some code
How to apply
WhatsApp me in Finnish at +358 400 345 606. Tell me a bit about yourself and why this role, and link anything you've built or run. No links is fine too if the vibes are right and your grades are 5/5. I just need to see you're capable of achieving stuff. Email works too: ceo@commslayer.com.
